Digging Up Your Digs

500 years from now, an archaeologist accidentally stumbles on the ruins of your home, long buried underground. What will she learn about early-21st-century humans by going through (what remains of) your stuff?

The only thing she will find is my NOKIA 3310 and that will be the only proof that mobile phones used to endure pain and cruelty throughout the years 🙂

Clothes don’t fit me!!!

Zoltar’s Revenge

In a reversal of Big, the Tom Hanks classic from the 80s, your adult self is suddenly locked in the body of a 12-year-old kid. How do you survive your first day back in school?

How awesome is that right? I always wanted to get back to school with my lifelong experiences. I believe that school, in a body of 12 year old, would be more fun that it already was.

It will take me some time to realize the way my body is and my strength, but after failing at more than one attempts, trying to do something, i would finally get the hang of it. I do not know how puberty would strike me. It is a mystery, knowing what the urge to question everyone and everything is, but would i really be able to understand it while it happened or would i let my emotions influence me.

I do not think that i would be a bully in my school, but i would, most certainly, not allow bullying when it happened.

With those teachers, lacking manners and transmissibility, i would probably have a conversation, trying to make them understand that some things are better left simple and that it does not matter how many times you have to explain something, because hearing the same question again and again is a sign of persistence and not one of resignation.

“Building conscience to a developing human being is the most important task one is given, so try leaving money and personal affairs out of the equation every time you enter a classroom, because without you knowing, your problems become our problems.”

Up up and away!

Nightmare Job

In honor of Labor Day in North America, tell us what’s the one job you could neverimagine yourself doing.

The one job i know for fact that i would never do is a builder in a skyscraper.

I do not care about the salary, i do not care about the work environment. All i am going to think about is the altitude. I have a serious issue with that and i get really sick, especially as the numbers go up! It does not matter how much money i will make because i will not live long enough to spend them on anything (of course having a family changes that, because i would provide them with something to live on comfortable and absent my presence).

I’m so empty without you

Daily Prompts

The Mirror Crack’d

You wake up one morning to a world without mirrors. How does your life — from your everyday routines to your perception of yourself — change?

How would the world look like without mirrors?

Taking for granted that there are no mirrors, there are no reflections in general. I believe it is easy to say that this would be a flat world, without any optical interest. Colours would be flat and the sea would not reflect the sky’s blue, the eyes of the one i love would be empty everytime we look at each other seeking compassion. In time, i will forget how i look and my only memory will be based on past photographs, asking others to describe my appearance from now on, enforcing my sense of insecurity.

I will no more be able to play with the reflection of the sun, turning it to my friends’ eyes for an instant, only to see them make funny expressions before realising what happened. The next time i witness the majestic view of a mountain in front of a lake i will not be able capture the mountain and its reflection on the water at the same time. Photoshop will do that for me, based on the way the world used to look.

A pretty boring world….

What’s the catch?

Pains and Gains

Do you agree with Jane Fonda’s favorite exercise motto, “no pain, no gain?” Is it impossible to attain greatness without considerable hardship?

In the world we leave in one thing is for sure. Impossible is nothing.

Some people are born with previlages, unimaginable to others. I might work for 2 years to be able to buy a car, while a friend has the comfort of bying one in a 2-month period. I might excercise for 6 months to lose the weight i want and get a bit fit, while a friend is born with an awesome metabolism and no matter how much junk he eats, a week or 2 in a gym will make him look like a professional athlete. So, i think that the point of this subject lies to the way one is “constructed” from birth and the environment in which that happens.

For the majority of people achieving a goal can be a cruel and hard path. A trial that must be carefully excecuted, with a huge amount of patience and luck. Personally, i always keep in mind this kind of pessimistic opinion about the goals that i set and the effort i put to get there, and Murphy’s law (If anything can go wrong, it will) suits me best.

Another factor that can help in gaining without pain is the people that are around us. A person can operate with much more confidence and stability when the family and friends provide support, psychological and material, when needed. I do not say that a person must rely only on those people and not provide a personal effort, because that can have the opposite result and create an insecure and fragile character with no ability to survive alone.

It is moments like this that i feel so weak, not as a person, but as a human. I understand sometimes that no matter how hard i try, from the moment i was born, a bar was set as to how much i can evovle and achieve greatness. Boundaries can be broken. Some easy, some hard.

A Child born in the shadows

Daily Prompts

New Dawn

How often do you get to (or have to) be awake for sunrise? Tell us about what happened the last time you were up so early (or late…).

Well…

I can compare the number of times i haveve seen the sunrise to the times i have not and the numbers will be pretty close. Due to the nature of my ocupation, 5 to 6 months each year i have to work at night, so by the time i get back home, i take the (long) scenic route by the sea just to admire that spectacle. After a hard night’s work, i do not mind getting to bed when the rest wake up to seize the day. After all i seized the night for them 🙂 Witnessing the sunrise i get to go to bed and rest, while most people get to work 😛

The story was different when i was a bit younger. Being a gamer during the summer can be very painful and here is why. What gamers persue is free time. And what a gamer does with the free time given? Play video games. It does not matter what game it is, though picking a good game helps filling your time schedule (for me it was World of Warcraft), as long as you keep your eyes occupied in front of a PC monitor. Of course you have to remember every 3 to 4 hours to eat something just to keep your body in a condition of enduring. For three years, before i equip my house with a proper PC unit, i emptied my pockets to the local Internet cafe close to my house, accompanied by my 4 best friends, all together in the same loop.

That was when i started witnessing the sunrise. To be more accurate i would not see the sun rise. I was only seeing the world outside the internet cafe illuminate and then i knew that it was about time to get back home, sleep till the next afternoon, wake up and continue gaming 😛 I know it sounds a bit messed up…

Now it’s a whole different experience. I enjoy it more, i do not feel like i have wasted my time to see the sunrise, i invite everyone who has not done so to make proper arrangements! Trust me, watching the sky change so many colors in 20 minutes is really a marvel! Sundown is truly majestic, but we get to see that a lot! Try something different for a change and you will definitely be rewarded!

A little tip from a fellow photographer! If you have not witnessed a sunrise yet, the first time you do so, DO NOT have a camera with you. You will miss it trying to capture it, looking the sun through the camera while you have it in real size right in front of you. You must first let the emotions flow in from that experience, know how you react everytime you look at the sun coming up. Only then, point your lens to the sun and Click!

1 passed, 51 to go…

Today i reached 7 posts in 7 days. I set the bar on quite a high level, because that is a challenge which either failing or succeeding can be beneficial. The goal is to reach 360 posts in a year. Now i am down to 353.

I hope that by the end of this year i will have gain experience on both writing and evaluating a text in a better way.

So… That’s it from me for today. I will definitely stick around! So make sure that i will see you here as well 🙂
